Jackson Stark
Network, infrastructure, and systems engineer — enterprise routing and firewalls, Microsoft identity and endpoint management, and the automation that ties them together.
About
I have 4+ years of combined experience across IT support and networking. I started as an IT Intern in a NOC, moved into a Junior Network Engineer role, and finished at Conduent as a Network Engineer — gaining early, hands-on exposure to enterprise routing, switching, firewalls, and virtualization along the way.
At Conduent I supported a global network spanning 22 countries and 100+ sites, serving over 500 government entities and numerous Fortune 100 clients. As a Tier 2 engineer I handled escalated routing, switching, and firewall issues across Cisco IOS-XE, ASA-OS, Palo Alto PAN-OS, F5, and VMware environments, and carried on-call responsibility for that worldwide infrastructure.
In May 2025 I joined Steamboat Resort as an IT Support Technician, deliberately widening my range beyond pure networking. I now work daily with Microsoft 365 administration, Active Directory and Entra ID, Windows Server, network troubleshooting, Windows 11 client management, print systems, point-of-sale infrastructure, and general desktop support across multiple business units. PowerShell and Python let me automate those workflows and keep configurations consistent across devices.
I graduated from the University of Utah in Fall 2023 with a B.S. in Information Systems and a minor in Business Management. I hold the CCNA and am working toward the CCNP Enterprise, with Security+ and Palo Alto next. I work across networking, systems, and automation, and keep a self-hosted Proxmox server running an EVE-NG lab to push each of them further.

Leadership & Impact
Work Experience
- One of three technicians providing IT support across the entire resort — Base Area Village and On Mountain — covering desktops, laptops, telecom, network connectivity, and printer environments.
- Resolved and closed 750+ support tickets since May 2025 across all business units using Freshservice.
- Manage user lifecycles across Active Directory, Entra ID P2, Exchange, and M365 including onboarding/offboarding via Cayosoft.
- Administer Intune and SCCM for Windows 11 client management, device deployment, and endpoint compliance.
- Troubleshoot the Cisco Catalyst LAN over SSH for layer 2/3 connectivity, use Meraki to resolve WiFi issues, and review Palo Alto Panorama logs for security, NAT, and threat policy problems.
- Terminate CAT cabling and use physical-layer tooling to isolate layer 1 faults on site.
- Support POS and retail infrastructure including Mi9 Mosaic/Merchant, OneRTP, and payment terminals critical to daily revenue.
- Automate Network and AD workflows with PowerShell and Python so newer technicians can resolve issues efficiently.
- Tier 2 and on-call support for a global network infrastructure spanning 22 countries and 100+ sites, serving 500+ government entities and numerous Fortune 100 clients.
- Managed 300+ routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers across Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, and VeloCloud SD-WAN.
- Handled escalated routing, switching, and firewall issues across Cisco IOS-XE, ASA-OS, Palo Alto PAN-OS, F5, and VMware environments.
- Implemented routing changes, firewall security policies, ACLs, and IPsec management as part of daily operations.
- Implemented emergency network changes to resolve client-wide outages stemming from routing issues, missing security/NAT policies, F5 VIP issues, and high-latency incidents.
- Led a project to configure TACACS+ on 200+ network devices and trained engineers on Cisco ISE for centralized authentication.
- Resolved 2,000+ network incident tickets; supported Tier 1 bridges coordinated by Major Incident Management.
- Applied baseline configs to Cisco routers, switches, Nexus, ASAs, and VeloCloud SD-WAN — both on-site and remotely.
- Configured and baselined replacement switches and routers for high-priority incidents.
- Troubleshot physical-layer faults and network service issues across the estate.
- Completed 100+ standard and normal CAB changes adhering to strict change management protocols.
- Reviewed firewall logs and rules in Palo Alto Panorama to enforce security policy and manage traffic efficiently.
- Monitored applications and processes in a NOC environment; escalated and created 1,000+ tickets.
- Assisted with incident management, root cause analysis, and environment stability across support teams.
- Learned IT operations fundamentals — monitoring, escalation, troubleshooting, and IT inventory and processing.
- Tracked end-user inventory using Excel and the broader M365 suite as part of end-user services.
- Used Microsoft Intune to simplify end-user device deployment and integrate devices with extensive AD domains.
- Followed operational runbooks and prepared system reports to support daily business needs.
- Configured live Cisco routers and switches — VLANs, spanning-tree, EtherChannel, trunking.
- Implemented network services including DHCP, DNS, and iSCSI in a Windows Server environment.
- Gained hands-on experience with physical cabling, MAC addressing, and enterprise network fundamentals.
Projects
- Self-hosted on an HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 running Proxmox VE, hosting EVE-NG — 14-node virtual enterprise topology using IOSv switches, ISRv routers, and Palo Alto VM-Series firewalls.
- Simulates segmented VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, BGP/OSPF, IPv6, and Active Directory integration end-to-end.
- Configuring Palo Alto security zones, NAT policies, and firewall rules modeled after real-world enterprise deployments.
- Building toward automated configuration workflows across a multi-vendor environment.
- Traces an IP address through the network and returns hop-by-hop device, port, VLAN, and neighbor information.
- Gives the operations support team network transparency without requiring Cisco IOS knowledge.
- Encodes the CDP/LLDP neighbor and MAC-table walk an engineer would otherwise perform by hand.
- Automates repetitive Network and Active Directory workflows across the resort environment.
- Keeps configurations streamlined and consistent across devices on the network.
- Built as an enablement tool — helps new technicians resolve issues efficiently and spot areas to improve.
- Designed and deployed this portfolio using Azure Static Web Apps, applying cloud-native hosting practices.
- Demonstrates foundational cloud deployment skills and version-controlled static site workflow.

How I Work
Contact
The work I do best sits where networking meets systems — escalated routing and firewall issues, identity and endpoint management at scale, and the Python and PowerShell that removes the repetitive parts. If that's the shape of the problem on your desk, get in touch.
